Black belt confidence at Dragon gate Martial ARts academy
Team, we've spent the whole month talking about developing Black Belt Confidence because it's crucial. Let me share a story that illustrates its importance:
Arthur Barry was a famous jewel thief in the 1920s. He became one of the most notorious thieves of all time because he only stole from the wealthiest and most privileged people in America, taking expensive jewels, paintings, and family heirlooms.
When Barry was released from prison, reporters from all over the country came to interview him. They asked many questions until one reporter asked something that struck a chord with Barry: "Mr. Barry, you stole from a lot of wealthy people during your years as a thief, but who did you steal the most from?"
Barry, without hesitation, replied, "That's easy. The man I stole the most from was Arthur Barry. I could have been a successful businessman or anything I wanted to be. But instead, I chose to be a thief and spent two-thirds of my adult life behind bars."
I share this story with you because if you let others' hurtful words or negative self-talk dictate how you feel about yourself, leading you to doubt your potential and become less than you are capable of being, then you'll be no better than Arthur Barry, who stole the most from himself.
First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "No one can make you feel inferior without your permission." Simply put, no one can make you feel bad about yourself unless you allow it. Don't let others' negative comments determine how you feel about yourself. You must believe in YOU!

My kids have been involved at DG for several years and are closing in on their Black Belts. The instructors have consistently been of high quality and exude an emphasis on both physical and emotional development.
